June Published in Small Studios. Featuring an in-depth Q&A introduction with Piet Gerards, Stefan Sagmeister, Bernhard Stein, Henry Steiner, Niklaus Troxler and myself, Small Studios is a rich publication that explores 100 small design studios from around the world by German- and Chinese-based design publisher Hesign. Self-covered in 130gm2 stock, the book is a surprisingly light brick of paper. The binding is raw and the edges are finished with band saw- cut. Hesign publications are finely detailed and hard to come by.

Bournemouth >> Visit and meet with the design and typography students at Bournemouth Arts Institute, organised by Sally Hope. London >> Typographic walking tour by John Voller. Paris >> Collect more material for my Club de Conversation project. New York >> Visit Peter Kruty Editions, a contemporary letterpress masterclass (for 19) in Brooklyn, with Paul Shaw. October Participate in exhibition at Objectspace – Just Hold Me curated by Jonty Valentine. Several books – On the way to an ambush, Muttonbirds – part of a story, Looking for the Local: Architecture and the New Zealand Modern, and the first two sets of the Four Winds Press Essays are included. The exhibition presents the work of 19 leading publications designers and design houses from around New Zealand.
