In 2003 Connew was invited by Dean Tiemi Te Au, a descendant of the ariki line of Kati Mamoe and a beneficial owner, to photograph traditional titi (muttonbird) food collecting on Taukihepa, one of the Titi islands, south-east of New Zealand.
The resulting series of images is the first art professional photographic exploration of elements of this important historic process.
