up:date//the active eye: contemporary new zealand photography / GROUP EXHIBITION

2000 / up:date//The Active Eye – a digital exhibition initiated by PhotoForum. 800 works were submitted, from which the selectors, Luit Bieringa, John Lyall, Anne Noble, Lisa Reihana, and Haru Sameshima chose 293. Three of my tree photographs were included. As John B. Turner, editor of PhotoForum explains in his introduction that the poetic logic of recording what today's photographers are up to at the beginning of the digital revolution in photography, 25 years after Luit Bieringa initiated the first national survey, The Active Eye, 1975, resulted in the internet exhibition, up:date//The Active Eye – perhaps one of the first national art surveys of its kind in digital terms.
